Why does my eye have a white spot near the edge of my brown area?

My eyesight is getting bad, I can't see very far and my vision is getting blurry at times. The spot in question is a very small white dot on the edge of the brown area of the center of my eye.
Does it look like the imagine in the link? If so, it's called a "pinguecula" and is essentially harmless.
