I was diagnosed with Leukemia on Oct.07,2005 im a 14 year old girl who doesn't know why she has leukemia and I would like to know how it is that people can get this disease?
Perhaps why you have leukemia is not so important compared to how you live with leukemia. Look at your courage right now. As rotten as leukemia is . .it is evident that it has given you enormous personal strength. It has shown you what is important.
Of course if it were possible you would choose not to have this disease, but remember that there are many things that humans have no choice over . . you did not choose to be born, you did not choose your sex, you did not choose your body, you did not choose the color of your skin, you did not choose your heritage, you have no control over wars, or earthquakes, or hurricanes, or any disaster . . and you did not choose cancer.
But, you can choose how you are going to face this disease. You can choose to fight the cancer. You can choose to try and reclaim your life. You can choose to live in the moment. You can choose to enjoy your life despite the cancer.
I will tell you what I told My son . . you may have one pity party . . and than get over it.
