What is the difference between septoplasty and SMR (submucosal resection)?

They're related. Both have to do with the nose and cartilage.
SEPTOPLASTY refers to surgery involving the septum of the nose, the cartilage that separates the nostrils. Septoplasty is done when the membrane has a hole in it etc.
SMR is the term used for surgery that corrects/fixes a deviated septum. the cartilage is no longer straight, and it makes breathing hard. People who have had their nose broken sometimes suffer from this. They are related and very similar just different surgical procedures on the same thing.
