Ok on Monday my stomach started hurting really bad i had a 101.6 fever real bad heaDache and diarrihea. I went 2 the doctor and she said i probably had a stomach virus. So i was wondering when i will get over this and if its really a stomach virus. Also like i feel like im in a dream when im doing stuff its like am i really doing this or is it a dream and im really dizzy and wozzy. Well yea please help THanks
There are hundreds of different viruses and obviously the different viruses cause different symptoms. Your condition sounds like gastroenteritis - this condition can be caused by either viral or bacterial infections. The symptoms are very similar to the ones you are describing: diarrhoea, fever, headaches - but it may also include vomiting. This is the condition your doctor was referring to when she said 'stomach virus'.
Now, generally speaking, most symptoms clear up within 24 to 48 hours, but they may last as long as from 1 - 10 days. The dizziness seems to me to be a symptom of dehydration caused by your diarrhoea, make sure you drink plenty of fluids. Also make sure your body receives electrolytes (such as sodium (salt) and potassium (found in bananas)) as these too can be lost easily due to diarrhoea.
This condition is usually only serious for the very young (babies) or very elderly who have compromised immune systems because of their age. For you this condition should clear up without any medical help but of course if you are not making a recovery or your condition worsens SEEK MEDICAL ADVICE!
