Anyway, I broke my leg the day after Thanksgiving. I had the cast for 6 weeks, it mended (It was on the tibia right next to the growth plate), I had a walking cast for a few weeks, and then the doctor said that I could take it off, and see him in a few weeks to see if I can do sports and stuff (my request). So after I saw him, and he said I could do track. So I started track, and my ankle now hurts. It been a week now (last monday of february) and now it is the next tuesday(first tues of march) I practiced on mon., tues, thurs, and this mon. It is a kinda dull pain that prevents me from striding or going very fast ( I don't think I can even do a 8 min mile anymore, and that used to be so, easy, I could do it backwards. It hurts pretty bad when I'm running, and it is a dull pain for the next 15-45 minutes. However, when its rested and I don't walk or run on it for abt. 45-60 min, it feels fine and I can walk all I want. My mom, said might be arthritis, but I reasearched, and I think not
Man I feel ya. I used to love to run too...
You have not mentioned therapy. Being off it can cause some atrophy where your muscles get weak from not being used and stretched...and that is what therapist do, they target the areas for you to strengthen...
Don't know your age but I would check with the doctor for a referral to a therapist, preferably one who is in Sports Medicine...
Remember you have been off it for a while and it will take time to get back to where you were and, where you want to be...Try to think of it as you are here, in the present and not in the past or the future and that you now have new goals to achieve...
If you are in school, check with your coach, maybe they know of a good Sports Medicine Therapist... They may even know what to do...
Ice will help reduce swelling immediately after the work out. Put a cloth between it and your skin. After wards you may want to alternate with MOIST heat...
Anti inflammatory may help...Read their directions and have food in your belly when you take them...
If it is not arthritis, it could become that way later on.... Just don't let it stop you from achieving your goals.
Really good sneakers are crucial now...You know what you like...I like the New Balance with numbers above 600 for good arch support and to help with impact...
Good luck!
