If one has AIDS and has contact with an animal that scratches or bites the AIDS infected person can that animal transmit the disease to another human being? There are no documented cases like this. As the ER Dr. said, theoretically it could happen but it would have to be IMMEDIATE contact with the animal (like if you and an HIV positive person were both attacked by a dog at the exact same time). Additionally, with the exception of some primates, animals cannot be carriers of HIV, meaning they don't carry it in their blood like humans do....
