If there's type 2 in your family, you are at risk for developing it. Type 2 is more hereditary than type 1. If you are predisposed, but pay good attention to your health (eat right, exercise, etc) you are less likely to develop type 2 than a brother/sister who may also be predisposed but eats junk and never gets of the couch.
