Peripheral Vision

Definition: The field of view that surrounds the central portion of the vision field. It is the part of vision that occurs outside the very center of gaze.

Peripheral vision occurs naturally. It is weaker in humans, compared to animals, especially at distinguishing color and shape.

Peripheral vision loss may result from some ocular or neurological diseases or disorders, including glaucoma and stroke.
