Muscle strains: I have pulled my left thigh muscle in a football match.?

Is warmth from hot water bottles etc. the best thing for it? I know rest is King but any other Tips and suggestions as I need to play again soon!

Sprain, strains, & bruising should allways be treated with
R.I.C.E.R

R = Rest
I = Ice
C = Compression (bandaging)
E = Elivation
R = Refer (see a doctor)

Ice will stop Swelling and reduce Blood flow to the injury. Heat will only increase blood fow, thus increasing swelling, bruising and pain.

After 24 hours heat packs can be used to help with pain, and to help the bruise clear.
