Here in western countries we've often heard women's complaints about the long lines in the ladies' rooms especially in arena-like venues. Oftentimes a lady or two will even enter the men's room to avoid the lines. A big reason seems to be that toilets and stalls take up a lot of room compared to the multiple urinals found in the men's room.
In Japan I have noticed that in the ladies' rooms, instead of toilets, they have porcelain urinals on the floor that a lady is to straddle. Now, in Japan they still have stalls housed around the urinals. I wonder, though, if it would be feasible for us to build ladies' rooms that contained these floor urinals without those stalls around them and placed the urinals comfortably close together in order to fit more in the given area. In effect, it would be like the urinals in the mens' rooms (without stalls), only it would be on the floor. Of course, you would still have a few toilets and stalls there too.
Ladies, would you use such a restroom?
It's a good idea to stop the problem of lines forming and women retreating to the mens bathroom. i've been in clubs and have seen many girls just go in there (and not to just make out with guys).
But it would be very difficult for people in the west to adapt to this method. Look at the answeres in here "ewww". We are a proud and spoilt nation.
If we had no choice and this would become a standard bathroom in the future to shorten lines we would have to adapt.
I think in one respect it is a good idea but women also like their privacy.
