AIDS is the advanced stage of HIV infection where the patient's immunity is weakened. Patients with AIDS are prone to numerous illnesses and bacterial, viral, fungal infections. When an AIDS patient has unprotected sex with another AIDS patient any infection from one's genitals can get easily get transmitted to the other.

Therefore, if the AIDS patient's immune system is weak already, teh system has to tackle an additional infection. It is logical to assume that if a new infection arises the AIDS status may worsen. If no new infection is exchanged, the two are lucky!
