I'm just curious if anyone out there is hypoglycemic (not diabetic) and has purchased a blood Glucose meter and tests their Blood sugar to help them figure out what they can and can not eat? Do people with Hypoglycemia need to do this to help them learn when to eat? My Doctor told me after my 103 fasting reading and then my 40 (3 hrs after oral glucose tolerance test) reading that I have hypoglycemia. I want to know how others out there deal with this!
Thanks!
If you manage your diet well and eat small snacks throughout the day with plenty of protein, you should me able to go without doing daily tests. You will learn the signs of a low bloodsugar and hopefully be able to fend off any danger. If you feel more comfortable with a home monitoring system than it isn't a bad idea to keep one around. Your insurance may not pay for the strips which are pretty expensive to buy at the store. Check into and see. My mother uses my machine and strips to check herself for lows occasionally but probably could not be able to be approved by the insurance for her own testing supplies.
