Does this condition have any effect on the mucles surrounding it-
arm, hand and elbow. what are the symptoms if there is an Infection?
This has been caused by a Blood draw at the elbow for a routine blood check up 4 weeks ago.Still have pain which increases when the hand is exerted. Has burning sensation sometimes and muscle Tenderness on the outerside of the arm and slight swelling/stiffeness on the innerside of the forearm and the elbow
Been to 2 pcp's said it will go away and been to a vascular surgeon who didn't say any different and never checked what the symptoms were and did not give me any satisfactory answers which I expected from an expert!). Hence with no answers I am troubled more than ever. This situation is interfering with my daily activities and with people around me.
Please give me serious advice to help with my concerns with your experiences or checking with your doctor friends.
This would mean a lot to me and I will have peace of mind.
Thanks for your time
There is no way to know for sure just how long it takes for a hematoma to heal as everyone heals differently.
Because of the tenderness and burning sensation I think you are expecting more to be wrong but it is very safe to say that after seeing 3 Dr's that all tell you the same, you are going to be alright,it's just going to take time.
There is no way to tell just how big the hematoma is and to what extent the muscles, nerves, and veins are affected so it is hard to give an exact answer to your question.
A hematoma is a "bruise" very much like a bruise when you fall and bump your knee or head or elbow and just as the bruises on knees, heads or elbows go away by absorbing into one's tissue so does a hematoma but since it is usually larger than most
"brusies" it takes longer to absorb.
I think if there were infection you would see and feel a noticeable
"hardness" ,extreme redness and alot of "heat" at the injection site.
Using warm compresses would encourage blood flow and increased blood flow would encourage healing so this might be an option for you.
