Have terrible pain on left side of face seems to be jaw area.?

My dentist checked me for periodontal disease and said no. Also grind teeth at nite and now wear nit guard made by dentist. Could this be tmj or periodontal disease. Also have pain under chin on same side and burning in same area. Please help don't know to call perio specialist or see jaw surgeon.
Sounds like TMJ syndrome....there are regular dentists that specialize in care of TMJ, look in your yellow pages start dialing.
