I have a grandfather that has been going through a lot lately. Last year in November my grandmother passed away from a deadly disease that was untreatable. At the same time my grandpa was going through a double by-pass surgery that he got over right away. And then he took a bad fall at a nursing home. So right now he had the surgery but he is not doing the same things that he did before the surgery. I was just wondering if anyone else can tell me their stories about it. My grandfather is turning 90 yrs old next month.
Thank you.
I'm very sorry to hear about this -- I'd like to wish you my condolences and I certainly hope for the best. At 90 years of age, your grandfather should be quite grateful to have the health to survive his medical complications.
I haven't gone through this exact situation but I do know that, as you mentioned, falls can be quite damaging to elderly and it's important to make sure it can be prevented whenever possible.
It may be time to start accepting that there is little you can do to help other than be there keeping him company. At this link you can see some special information that might be of help as far as your grandfather's feelings with the passing of his wife and any grief you may be Feeling as well.
Please do take care and again, I wish you my condolences
