As a quick rundown (there's a little more info on this on some of my previous questions, too) a few weeks ago I had a stubborn strain of strep, which took 20 days of Antibiotics to knock out. After it was gone, I was still having trouble swallowing & began to have pain in my chest upon swallowing, a little Heartburn, & the feeling that food was getting stuck in my chest area when swallowing & a lot of pressure in my throat. My Doctor prescribed an acid blocker (he prescribed Prevacid, but I ended up taking Prilosec because it's OTC & the Nurse said it was ok when I called up & asked if I could take that instead). I was hesitant at first, but then finally took it & it did help with my heartburn & chest issues. But the difficulty swallowing & pressure in my throat has gotten worse. Sometimes I get pain on the sides of my neck & up 'under' my jaw, & it just feels like someone's hands are around my throat. And it feels like my throat simply Doesn't want to work to swallow. ??? >

And I've had 3 strep tests since & 2 throat cultures since that have come up negative.
Go back to see your doctor you might still have strep.Replace your toothbrush also.Only your doctor can do a culture on your throat.Take Care.
