I would like to learn what I could use on my face to keep it healthy and youthful. i am 30 and scared of getting older Skin. I know it is inevitable, but I want to take good care of it now to reduce the signs of aging.
I use face moisturizer SPF20 daily, SPF45 if I plan to be outside. Vasoline every nite on lips and eyelashes. Any info would be super appreciated. There are alot of chemicals out there- vit A, Vit E, Collagen, retinol, etc. I have no clue what is good and what is gimic. thanks a bunch
Sunscreen is the most important thing. There are thee things that destroy young skin: Free-radical damage, Glycation, Collagen Eating enzymes. Although you cannot fully prevent it you can diminish them, sometimes greatly.
Free Radical Damage - Just like cutting an apple causes it to brown, oxidation affects your skin in a similar manner. You need Antioxidants such as Vitamin C to prevent it and protect cells. Notice how lemon juice prevents an apple from browning? - Preserve your face the same way. Be sure to apply antioxidants each day. Do some research and alternate between them. It is also important to eat antioxidants from vibrant colored frutis and vegtables (think spinach and berries).
Glycation - Happens when free radicals are present, caused by too much sugar in diet which breaks down support structure and leads to loss of firmness and elasticity. Make lifestyle change, cut back on refined sugars and increase soy and omega 3.
MMPS - Collage eating enzymes - caused by natural anatomy of skin, destroy skin's support structure and lead to sagging, lines, Wrinkles. Use sunscreen - it is a must. Be sure to block UVA and UVB, using a higher SPF when you know you will be out in sun. Use topical retinoids and bioflavonid to support your skin.
Basically you need:
Good cleanser and moisturizer
Antioxidant lotion
Retinoid such as retin a, renova, or prevage
Sunscreen
Also - Eat antioxidants, limit sugar (you can still have it - just limit it), stay well hydrated H20, limit stress -exercise, yoga, read meditate, DO NOT smoke, stay out of the sun, consume omega 3 (fish or supplement).
I have also found excellent results with botox and annual laser treatments to increase collagen production.
