I have been depressed for 7 years, and I'm a senior in high school. I realize now too late that I should get help, and I'm planning to talk to my counselor tomorrow about my Depression. The thing is, my parents is what caused the depression. They are very overprotective and I cannot enjoy the normal life. I turn to the internet and games for solace just to talk to people, because I'm terribly lonely. Then they will scold me for spending time on there and I should be studying, and give me an hour lecture about how they suffered to make me guilty. I want to tell them too about my feelings and thoughts, but they are just stubborn and don't understand. They accuse me of being lazy and fat (I'm overweight and I can't stand hearing this) I've been doing poorly in school lately and I want to change that but I Just can't find the willpower or strength in me.. I've been crying almost every day thinking about this. In fact I'm crying right now while typing this. How do I make them understand?
First talk to your counselor how your feeling and what your parents are doing to you that are making you upset. Try talking to your parents and make sure they listen and let them know what you've been going through. If talking Doesn't help, then try writing down the things that upset you and let your parents read it.
Be strong and don't let it get to you that much.
