has anyone had a treatment called scaling.. i know whats involved but is it painful ?
Depends on who does the scaling. Many people will tell you horror stories while others will say it is nothing. Make sure a licensed hygienist does it or a dentist to avoid horror cases. It is normally done at all cleanings, but if it has been a while since you had a cleaning you may need a deeper cleaning. If there is lots of buildup on your teeth, it can cause gum soreness. If your gums are very sore they may want to numb you to avoid this. Usually, it is no big deal. It is where they use little picky instruments to pick buildup off your teeth that causes bone loss/ Gum Disease.
