Ive just got daily contacts and was wondering. My Doctor said wear them for around 8hrs a day but I have work shifts that goes for 11hrs twice a week. - the others are 7hrs. Is it Ok to continue wearing my contacts that long (if I only wear contacts 5days a week)?
It should be okay to wear them that long, once your eyes get adjusted to wearing them. The 8 hr a day wear may be what the doctor wants to you start out with, until your eyes are fully adjusted to wearing them. It can take up to 2 weeks for some people to get used to them enough to wear them for longer periods of time. If you're doing fine wearing them 8 hrs a day right now, call your eye doctor and ask if it's ok to wear them longer...he may have had a reason for specifying 8 hr wear.
I wear my contacts at least 12 hrs a day every day, and I'm doing fine with mine...and My eye doctor did okay that.
