Cracking Jaw?

A couple of weeks ago I was Eating a bread roll when my jaw suddenly made a squishy sort of gristly noise. Now every time I chew my jaw makes a load cracking sound on the left of my face, its not painful though.
Will it get better over time?
Hi - I have this too - it has periods of almost Disappearing and others of being really annoying - sometimes its hard to get my jaw back into position. I asked the dentist about it on monday and she said if it causes pain then they investigate but if not then they don't. She said that eating lots of tough food aggravates it and also sleeping at a funny angle on your face, pushing your jaw out does as well - so perhaps try sleeping differently? Let me know if you find a Solution!
