I'm currently on the contraceptive pill and lately, I just can't keep any weight off. I've gained a stone in the last 6 months and trying to stop eating so much but all I ate yesterday was a small bowl of cereal and quarter of a pizza and I put on a couple of pounds!
I've heard that some women suffer weight gain, but is this more of an urban myth?
I'm stepping up my exercise and I'm going to try and eat several light meals to see if I can stabilise it, but the truth is, if I'm to keep my weight stable, I have to be pemanently hungry. I know this is supposed to put you i starvation mode, but if I keep myself so I'm not hungry, but not full like many people say, I still gain weight.
I am CONSTANTLY hungry! I am eating now, in fact!! I have had a funny relationship with food for a while now. I crave food all the time. As an ex-smoker I can compare the craving to when you "need" a cigarette. My ex once found me in the walk-in larder shovelling sweets and biscuits in my mouth - I couldn't even wait to get them out of the cupboard. I have been on the pill for around 9 years and at 5'2" I am not fat, but curvy at 10 stone.
I stopped my pill for a few months because I split up with my ex. I joined a gym and started to lose weight. The cravings stopped... I now have a new man so decided to be on the safe side and go back on the pill. After two days, the cravings came back with a vengeance and I just had to have crisps, jelly sweets, hobnobs etc!!!! I put on all the weight I had lost (only about half a stone so it's not too tragic!!).
I am now trying to avoid too many starchy carbs and work out at least three or four times a week. I have a cereal bar for brekkie, a nice wholemeal wrap for lunch with chicken and salad followed by fruit or a yoghurt and for tea (after the gym!) I have a salad or stir fry with no noodles, spuds, pasta or rice. :o( I have also invented minced beef, tomato and vegetable bakes which are like pasta free lasagnes.
Hopefully this will do the trick! Don't worry too much about the weight you put on daily, weigh yourself weekly and go by the average. Our weight varies depending on the time of day and what time of the month it is. It is important to follow a healthy, sensible eating plan. Pizza and cereal are yummy but remember to eat some rabbit food too! It's nowhere near as appetising but think how good you'll look in a bikini if you stick to a sensible diet and exercise plan!!
