yesterday and thursday i have had lacrosse tryouts and we have had to run a whole lot. i didn't do anything specific to my knee, but it hurts really bad.
my knee is not just sore, i'm pretty sure something is wrong with it.
it specifically hurts if i move my knee cap, tighten my knee, when i get up from sitting down, and when my knee is completely straight.
i tore my patella tendon last year in my other knee, but it does not feel the same as that, it's a lot worse. if it's not my acl, could it be something else?
It could be a number of things but it is almost certainly a type of inflammatory response. It is not likely a torn ACL but that can't be ruled out. You might have Osgood-Schlatter disease ( which is an inflammation of the tibial tuberosity (where the quad comes together with the top of the lower leg). It could just be "normal muscle/ligament/tendon strain &/or sprain".
Best thing to do is put some ice on it for 20 minutes every two hours. If it doesn't get better in two days, then you need to see your chiropractor or sports physician. You also need to do no more than a light practice for this two-day healing duration as another rigerous exercise could be counterproductive or even harmful.
