Chronic itching?

For the past year or So, I've had bumps on my back. I've assumed it's just Acne or something, but they've also been itchy on and off the past year. Usually at least once daily, there is itching. It is uncontrollable, spreading from a small part of my back to other parts of the body. It's an extreme pain... What could it be?
the liver can do some pretty strange things, including rashes that seem to be painful, itchy and all over.

i'd get a liver panel done and screen for hcv or hbv.
