Hi, I used to binge drink about one weekend a month, and after one or two drinks I would experience excruciating chest pain that would occassionally radiate into my shoulders and into my upper arms. It used to happen occassionally in college, but after graduation it seemed to get progressively worse.
The easiest and most obvious Solution for me was to stop drinking completely..... (sober since last Dec) ....but I've always been curious about what caused that to happen.
Could be a lot of things, but most are probably things that are separate from the alcohol.
What I'm pretty sure you think you're describing is a precursor to a Heart attack. Alcohol causes a ton of damage, but Heart Failure isn't any of it, believe it or not.
Alcohol is toughest on your liver as an organ. However, it can relax a lot of muscles, that, when tested (as your arms and shoulders are in frequent motion), can generate some pain. If you've been in a car accident you'll get what I'm saying...Going from resting to tense can be painful at the time and for days.
Congrats on stopping drinking once you realized you had a problem. Encourage others to do so! You are a beacon of hope!!!
