I was developing Cold symptoms earlier today. I went out tonight and had a couple of glasses of wine (enough to feel good, but not so much that my head spinned when I got in bed). I even went to A diner with friends and had a piece of cake before returning home. I took Alka-Seltzer Night-Time Cold before bed. Usually this stuff conks me out pretty well, and I have a great night's sleep, but tonight, I am absolutely EXHAUSTED but can't seem to get drowsy.
Normally, I have absolutely no trouble sleeping. It usually takes me two minutes to fall asleep. My boyfriend even jokes about the fact that I can fall asleep anywhere anytime. But it's 4:00am right now, and I have not managed to get a wink in since 12:30.
Is it the wine? Why is there only an increased drowsiness warning related to alcohol in the product info? Please let me know if this has ever happened to you and what you have done about it. Thanks!
PS I know, I Shouldn't have any alcohol if I'm getting sick. : {
Alcohol can be a contributory factor in Insomnia, but it is usually not a single cause - at least if those two glasses of wine you drank were few enough ounces for the paradoxical excitement effect of alcohol NOT to kick in. Sometimes we Just can't sleep. At some point I suspect evry single Human experiences insomnia for some
reason or other.
