I believe Blanketyblank is right! our body fights whatever strain you have and establishes immunity to it. If you come in contact with another strain, you may catch it too, but since your body has built (or is building) immunity to the first strain, I believe the related second strain may not be as severe as it would otherwise have been. (I believe a few times this has happened to me. I teach and am constantly exposed to germs of cold and flu. Recommended: wash your hands a lot and do not touch your eyes, nasal, and Mouth areas where the germs can infect you.)
