-The doctor came , gave her some antibiotic but it did not stop the pain
- Is there anything she can take to make them stop hurting?

To complicate the issue further, the test for mono Doesn't become positive until the patient has been ill for 5 - 7 days. Also, mono and strep frequently co-exist.
Your gf should let the doctor know she is still in pain. The doc is in the best position to recommend something for pain.
