...my husband (38) has been getting pretty bad Headaches for a few weeks now. We went to the Optometrist today, and his script reads:
Right: pl (or pd, not sure) : -1.25 X 135
Left : - 0.25 - 0.25 x 020
Is he a Lasik candidate? How bad is his Astigmatism? And What does the pd or pl thing mean?
Thank you in advance for any info. I'm an R.N. but totally ignorant about this kind of stuff. He is also a Police Officer and I worry about him wearing glasses (fights, etc), and contacts are not an option.
PL stands for plano which means zero. That means he is neither nearsighted or farsighted in his right eye but does have -1.25 diopters of astigmatism (mild to moderate amount). His left eye is a pretty low prescription. He could probably get Lasik in his Right eye but I would not touch his left eye. hope that helps
