Anybody undergone arthroscopic surgery for a tear in the meniscus of the knee???

I have just been informed that I have a Torn meniscus of the knee. Just wondering Is anyone out there could tell me about the arthrscopic surgery. Do they put you to sleep? an epidural? numbing of the leg? Recovery Time?
How long does the actual procedure take? Are you happy with the results? Thanks in advance for answering.
They put you under for the prodecure, though some places are starting to do it under just a local anastetic (just numbing the area where the surgery is happening). The sugery itself, depending on how bad the tear is, should take less than an hour. Recovery time also varies depending on the extensivness of your surgery and how willing you are to work.
