My 6-year-old son has only 4 permanent teeth, which are on the bottom, and a loose CI on the top. This is totally normal. But, he already has 6-year molars and is chewing constantly and says more molars are coming in behind those! The gums are swollen and look sore like he really is Teething. What might be going on?
Count the teeth from the front. 6-year-old molars will be 6th from the front. He is too early to have any more adult molars erupting, and I can offer no suggestion why he might be having discomfort.
